Part 1- Art Critique Process
The art critique process first starts with describing. In this first step you describe what things you see in the art piece and describe the materials & techniques used, the genre of the piece, and explain everything you see. The second step is to analyze. In this step you would say how the lines, shapes, colors, and texture is used in the art piece and find examples of unity through repetition and look for the center of interest and analyze what it is. The third step is to interpret. In this step you would interpret what is going on in the artwork, what is the purpose, and what the artist is saying. The final step is to decide and evaluate. In this final step you would evaluate if you the like the piece of art, is this a quality piece of art, what is the best and worst thing about this piece, and if the artist is successful.

Part 3- Recent Piece of Art Blog Critique
For my print making piece I used different color inks. What I see in this piece is all the different lines that form her fur shape. For the technique of this piece I really took my time on cutting out the board for the print making so that I wouldn't miss up any of the lines of her fur. The more lines of fur I had the more it was going to look like my dog and really make her stand out. I really wanted the colors of my dog to stand out. That is why I had Macy, my dog, be all in black with her tongue the only thing pink. This made her tongue be the focal point or center of interest and gives it a bright color. The tongue made everybody first draw to it. There are multiple shapes through out this print making as well. There are all these lines that form her fur that move in all different ways. The lines range from thin to thick and straight to having a curve to them. I think by making these lines move differently it made Macy come out more alive. I also believe that there is a lot of repetition throughout this piece. Especially at the bottom you can see that there are all these little lines that all go about the same way. This makes their be positive space and shows how much detail Macy has to her fur. I think that in this piece you can interpret obviously a dog who is just going about her business. I think the artist was trying to show the beautiful side of dogs and show how lovely and perfect they can be. Overall I really like the piece really because it is my dog and I love her to death. I wouldn't say that this is the best quality of art compared to professionals but to me it is one of the better pieces I did. The best thing to me is all the lines of Macy's fur that make her stand out and give a furry texture to it. The worst thing about this piece is that all the print making didn't turn out perfect and that there are some places that didn't get enough ink or missed where there was supposed to be ink. I think that as an artist I was successful because I really liked the piece and I believe that it turned out really good and I think that is all that really matters in determining if an artist was successful.

What was the warm up or sketchbook assignment that you learned the most from?
I would have to say doing the hand sketches for warm ups was where I learned the most. I was able to learn that I can actually draw even when I thought I couldn't. I also learned that if you take each step slowly you can draw something to how it should look. With the hand warm ups I thought of each step as a shape which made drawing my hand so much easier and make it look more like a hand rather than just a blob.

Illustration Fridays have been completed almost every week this semester, do you feel this assignment helped you brainstorm for main project or helped you skill levels in any way? Why or why not?
I do believe that illustration Fridays have helped me over the past semester. Although I don't believe they have really helped my skill as most of the time I didn't put a lot of thought into them, I do think they helped with my brainstorming. I think IF helped me brainstorm because they gave me more opportunities to have to draw and come up with an idea with just one word to help guide me. This came into play when I had the whole art of apex portal website to look at for an idea for an art project. I took one simple how to draw a face video and turned it into a piece with meaning to it.
